About the Role: School Manager
Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls’ School seeks a dynamic and committed School Manager to lead the on-ground execution of its education and fellowship programs.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring the seamless functioning of the school across academics, fellowship management, operations, and donor engagement. The School Manager will play a critical role in translating program design into effective on-ground execution, while fostering a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
The role involves close collaboration with the Academic Lead for pedagogical direction, while independently driving operational and programmatic outcomes at the school level.
In addition, the School Manager will contribute to the ongoing development of the fellowship program and its fellows, ensuring that learning systems evolve in line with on-the-ground realities. The role also requires reviewing data, reports, and forms, conducting initial analysis at the school level, and using insights to inform program improvements.
A Week in the Life of a School Manager
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that balances classroom engagement, team leadership, and operational oversight. A typical week may include:
Observing classrooms and providing structured feedback to fellows and teachers
Reviewing lesson plans, reports, and on-ground data to ensure alignment with program goals
Meeting team members to solve on-ground challenges and hosting regular debriefs
Coordinating with the Academic Lead on program improvements and fellow development
Reviewing attendance, school operations, and key systems
Preparing for or hosting donor visits and special engagements
Capturing stories and updates for donor communication and reporting
1. Education Program Execution
Ensure effective implementation of the curriculum and education program designed by the Academic Lead
Align classroom delivery, community programs, and action research with overall academic objectives
Monitor program effectiveness and drive improvements to meet educational goals
Support extracurricular integration in line with program objectives
Review on-ground data, reports, and forms for accuracy and alignment
Conduct first-level analysis at the school level to identify trends and gaps
2. Fellowship Program Leadership
Lead the end-to-end fellowship program lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, performance, capacity building, and exit)
Develop systems and tools to support effective program execution
Mentor and coach fellows to drive performance and growth
Identify and address capacity-building needs in collaboration with the Academic Lead
Strengthen fellow engagement in academic and community initiatives
Contribute to the development and evolution of the fellowship program based on on-ground insights
3. Staff and Team Performance
Oversee the performance of teaching staff and fellows
Provide regular coaching, feedback, and mentoring
Build a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment
4. Donor Relations and Partnerships
Plan and execute donor visits aligned with school objectives
Support the development of partnerships to strengthen program delivery
Collaborate with the Academic Lead to integrate program insights into donor interactions and communication
5. Branding and Communication
Lead strategic storytelling and communication for the school
Develop high-quality donor-facing content, including reports, stories, and visual documentation
Ensure alignment of all communication with the school’s vision and values
Maintain a repository of communication assets
6. School Operations and Administration
Oversee day-to-day school operations, including admissions, scheduling, and logistics
Ensure smooth functioning of key systems such as attendance, mid-day meals, and library
Implement and monitor visitor management and child safety protocols
Continuously review and strengthen operational systems
7. Classroom Observation and Feedback
Conduct regular classroom observations and provide actionable feedback
Monitor teaching effectiveness and support improvement
Facilitate collaboration between fellows and teaching staff
8. Donor Reporting and Communication
Lead preparation of timely and high-quality donor reports
Ensure clear and accurate communication of school progress and impact
Develop compelling stories and documentation showcasing impact
